Join Us

If you enjoy music and singing, joining the Gentlemen Songsters could be the beginning of a hobby that will last a lifetime.  We have opportunities and challenges for all levels of singers.  Even if you have never sung with a group before, as long as you can carry a tune and follow your part, we can teach you most of what else you need to know.  While reading music is a plus, many of our members don’t read music and learn our repertoire by listening to recorded learning media.

Come to a rehearsal to become familiar with our style.  You will quickly become a part of the group and start to enjoy the fun of singing four-part harmony.  Once you have joined the chapter and become familiar with the repertoire, we’ll gladly make a place for you.  Before you know it, you’ll be quartetting as well as singing in the chorus.

A typical rehearsal goes somewhat like this:

  • We begin with a series of vocal warmup exercises.
  • We then sing as an ensemble to review and refine the songs in our repertoire.
  • We sometimes separate into our specific vocal sections (tenors, leads, baritones, and basses) in separate rooms to work out kinks, especially in songs that are new to us.
  • Throughout the rehearsal, our Director works with us on developing ensemble skills and learning vocal techniques.
  • About halfway through the rehearsal, we take a break that includes a short chapter meeting where our officers make announcements and recognize members’ achievements.
  • Before and after rehearsal, some of the guys sing in quartets just for fun.

Email or call us at the address or phone number below to visit one of our rehearsals.  You don’t have to sing when you come.  You’re welcome to just check out the chorus and chat with the guys.
